How it works
Light, not needles.
Red and infrared light pass through your fingertip, and a sensor measures how much of it your blood absorbs with each heartbeat. That's photoplethysmography (PPG), the principle every fingertip pulse oximeter uses, turned into your SpO₂ and pulse rate.
The reading
Two numbers, one glance.
SpO₂ is the percentage of oxygen your blood is carrying. PR is your pulse in beats per minute. Both appear together on a bright OLED colour screen.

1How long does a reading take?
A few seconds. Keep your hand still and wait for the numbers to settle before you read them.
2How do I get the most reliable reading?
Sit down and rest for a few minutes first, warm your hands if they're cold, take off nail polish or artificial nails on that finger, rest your hand at chest height and keep still while it reads.
3What can affect the reading?
Cold hands or poor circulation, movement, nail polish, skin pigmentation, skin thickness and tobacco use can all affect a pulse oximeter's reading. Treat any single number as a guide, not a verdict.
4Who is it for?
People who like to keep an eye on the basics: seniors and the family who look after them, people who exercise, and travellers. It's simple enough that anyone can use it.
5Single or Family 2-pack?
The Family 2-pack is two oximeters for $49, which saves $9 against buying two singles. Keep one at home and give one to a parent, or keep one in your travel bag.
